Your File Server Crashes! All the creativity, productivity, and profits of a full day's business just vaporized before your eyes. User morale drops down below zero. The phone starts to get an ugly ring to it. Now, its like travelling back in time as your backup was made last night (14 hours ago), and you start your trip to tape hell...
The Show Must Go On In many corporate Windows Server environments, the loss of even an hour's data may cost many (tens of) thousands of dollars. Downtime is similarly expensive resulting in lost productivity and lost business. With traditional backup alone, you run the risk of losing up to a full day's data in the event of a system failure. Even the best tape backup systems require hours to restore a large server, and downtime can extend to days if the restore does not go smoothly. For many businesses, this amount of lost data and downtime is absolutely unacceptable. Double-Take Disaster Recovery monitors file changes as they occur on one or many source servers, replicating them in real-time to a server over existing network links. In the event of a server failure, Double-Take's target server has backup copies of all your critical files immediately available for your users. The target server can even assume the identity of the failed server virtually eliminating data loss and downtime.
Enhances Existing Backup Systems Double-Take can be used without changing your current tape backup strategy. Double-Take makes it easy to backup open files, since the replicated copy is always available for backup. In addition, the option of centralizing your tape backup operations on the target server can reduce cost and simplify management of your backup systems.
Disaster Recovery No data protection strategy is complete without off-site protection from disasters. Because of its patented communication technology, Double-Take is uniquely suited to replicating data over WAN links.
How Double-Take Disaster Recovery Works A small software module is installed on each source and target server. An easy-to-use client application lets you define which data will be replicated and where the copies will be stored. The initial mirroring operation can be performed while the source servers are active. After this simple configuration and initial mirroring are completed, operations are automatic and transparent. The failover module resides on the target server, and continually monitors the source servers. In the event of a server failure the target server can assume the names and IP adresses of the failed servers (in addition to its original name), and invoke scripts to restart applications.
Improved Data Protection Double-Take protects data in real-time, reducing your exposure to data loss from a full day's data to seconds or less.
Disaster Recovery Protection Up-to-the-minute offsite protection is an important part of your business continuity strategy. Double-Take works efficiently over slower WAN links.
Reduced Downtime Failover is fast and automatic. Your exposure to downtime is reduced or eliminated.
Enhanced Data Compression Three levels of compression introduced in Version 4.4 allow more data to be replicated and increase performance and scalability.
| Cross-Platform Data Interchange |
Data can be mirrored and replicated between your Double-Take machines running on different OS platforms.
Enhances Backup Performance By giving your existing third-party backup system access to open files, Double-Take improves backup reliability. In addition, the option of centralizing backup operations on the target server simplifies management, improves performance, and reduces cost of ownership.
