What's New in Version 2.0?
»
New Engine, Faster Scanning - The scan speed of SNSI has been significantly increased, while definitions file sizes have dropped dramatically. One V2 user reports scanning his large network in hours instead of days.
»
Scheduled Scanning - v1.6 required the admin to kick off a scan. In v2.0, the admin can schedule a scan, allowing vulnerability scanning to occur during low traffic times, such as the wee hours of the morning or on weekends, and automatically set this schedule to reoccur on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
»
Comprehensive Reporting - Ability to create and export (PDF) numerous high-level or detailed reports of all scan data to confirm policy and regulatory compliance.
»
File Version Scanning - Ability to scan for the latest versions of files, by setting the range of versions for specified file types.
»
Scan Vista Machines - Ability to scan both 32-bit and 64-bit Vista machines, as well as Server 2008.
»
Expanded MAC and Solaris Definitions – more support has been added for MAC and Solaris operating systems.
»
SQLExpress Backend – behind the scenes, the database has migrated from Access to SQLExpress, contributing to the increased performance in SNSI.
»
New, Easy-to-use UI – Up front, a new User Interface greatly simplifies scanning. Based on policies, the new UI is more intuitive and thus easier and faster for the user to perform the necessary actions. The user can create a policy for scanning one set of machines, and a separate policy with different configurations for a second set of machines.
»
Supports Active Directory – Now you can query Active Directory to populate the list of machines you want to scan.
SNSI has a host of powerful features
»
Adaptive Scanning - The most accurate vulnerability assessment scan using flexible network-based scanning techniques based on access-levels including credentialed and null based. Also, perform ad hoc scans that can target one or many machines and specific vulnerabilities.
»
Comprehensive Vulnerability Coverage - Over 4000 vulnerability audits with wide support across Windows, POSIX and infrastructure devices. Vulnerability audits include security configurations, OS and application vulnerabilities, null passwords, patch-level related vulnerabilities, known hacking tools, malware, common worms, and P2P software checks.
»
Highly Scalable - Highly scalable architecture due to its modular components which can be installed on the same or separate systems and scaled-up as needed.
»
Non-Disruptive Scanning - Designed to safely scan for vulnerabilities using standard networking protocols with minimum impact to your network. Never employs malicious vulnerability attacks; scanning methodology uses safe standard networking protocols and API's.
»
Remediation Recommendations - Extensive vulnerability database with informational resources and remediation recommendations
»
Risk-Based Prioritization - All scanned systems are evaluated and prioritized according to asset value and vulnerability criticalities using straight-forward equations. All systems are then listed by risk severity to help focus and prioritize remediation efforts.
»
Common Criteria EAL2 Certified - The Common Criteria Evaluation and Certification Scheme (CCS) Certification Body has asserted that SNSI complies with the all specified security requirements
»
Multiple Platform Support - Windows: 2000, XP, 2003 Server, Vista (32-bit & 64-bit), 2008 Server. Linux: Redhat, Fedora, Mandriva, SuSE. Unix: Sun Solaris. Apple: Mac OS X, Cisco Routers, HP Printers

What does SNSI do more than "free" products?
Some people asked us: "If I can scan missing patches for free, why pay for SNSI?" Good question. Here's the answer. SNSI does much more than just check for patches that aren't there. It looks at all the Windows OS flavors and scans both for patches and configuration issues. Apart from that it looks at all MS applications, but also dozens of popular third party applications. Better yet, it checks multiple machines with one scan (unlike WinUpdate on individual machines one at a time), and last but not least, SNSI reports on known zero-day vulnerabilities and explains workarounds until patches exist.

Sunbelt Network Security Inspector uses the latest Mitre Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) list of computer incidents. It also contains the latest SANS/FBI top 20 vulnerability list. SNSI also uses the latest CERT, CIAC Microsoft and FedCIRC (Department of Homeland Security) advisories. If you had not noticed yet, SNSI is by far the most powerful scanner on the market today from a price/performance perspective. Schedule a walkthrough with one of our SE's and after that you can get a key for 30-days unlimited testing!
